I hope that you are all well and have managed to avoid Covid -19. I still can't believe how 2020 has gone for us all.
Courses finally opened up for play this week but with Mark Drakeford restricting play to singles, it was not very appealing, but better than not playing at all, so I was all ready for a game on my own on Wednesday. But on Saturday afternoon I received a 'shielding' letter advising me to stay in the house till 15th June so that means no golf.
for me till then! Let's hope in his next address he allows 2,3, or 4 ball play and then Clubhouses to open, so that we can back to some form of normality regarding golf, which I am really missing at the moment. I am sure that you are all missing it too!
Regarding our fixture list. It is with regret that we have had to cancel all fixtures arranged in June and July so would you note your diaries accordingly,
On August 17th we have a match with Snowdonia at Pwllheli. I have been in touch with them and the match is still 'live'. A final decision will be made at the end of July, but if 4 ball play has not been sanctioned by then and Clubhouses are still closed I am afraid that match will be cancelled.
On August 26th Brian Hughes has kindly organised a day at Rhos-on-Sea. That could be singles or better ball but again if the Clubhouse is not open it will be cancelled.
The final event on our calendar is Wal's President's Day at Clays on 16th September. Hopefully things will be much improved by then but again we must really wait and see!
Wal has also advised me that Pwllglas would allow us to play the Glyn Smart event one day in the Autumn if we wished.
I shall keep you advised with any further updates.
(Secretary Denbighshire Past Captains).
We are dependent upon starting after the Wrexham 'Members Only' time. However if the tee is empty we will be able to start a little earlier.
Times have been allocated on 'closest first and furthest last'.
Hopefully this will allow 'close' players to have enough time to return home to change and return in time for the meal as opposed to hanging around for a couple of hours.
However, its players choice entirely.

The Society President, George Smith, is hosting his President's Day on Thursday 8th August 2019 at the Vale of Llangollen G.C. The format is a 4BBB pairs, Competition off Yellow tees, with the 1st. tee at 1300hrs. As there is no official Annual dinner this year, the after match meal will be in the form of the Annual Dinner; 3 courses followed by the usual speaker, no Black tie but Captain's jackets and ties to be worn.
If you wish to support our President and take part in the Competition please let your rep have your names, a draw will be made for partners unless you indicate who you prefer to play with. Names before the 30/07/19, alternatively if wish to attend the Dinner only please let your rep know accordingly.
Thanks to the members of Clays for organising the Kirby Salver competition which will be held on Wednesday 28th August 2019.
This is in addition to the published fixture list.
Please put it in you diary and support this event.
